I’m Jeff LaSala, a writer and arranger. I’m a senior production editor by day (at Macmillan/Tor), but at all times I’m a husband, a dad, a gamer (and forever DM), and a mere Christian. At the same time, I’m a Tolkien nerd, a D&D dork, an Eberron geek, a Raveloft dweeb. In a former life, I was a novelist and freelancer for Wizards of the Coast.
Currently, I’m (re)writing The Silmarillion Primer (Signum Press), a tome that guides first-time readers through J.R.R. Tolkien’s seminal work—The Silmarillion—a famously challenging book for fantasy readers in general and even some Lord of the Rings fans.
For some reason, I still appear to haunt Twitter, Facebook, and BlueSky. I’ve even begun to dabble with TikTok and Substack.
Some places I have appeared online in recent times:
- Today’s Tolkien Times YouTube channel
- The Gargoyle episode of the Monster Manual Mash podcast
- “The Silmarillion Primer: A Working Introduction” video on Signum University’s YouTube channel
- Season 3, episodes #14 and #15 of The NoName StoryTellers Podcast.
Some years ago, my artist friend Craig Spearing made this crazy steampunk version of me. . . .
